The salty and sweet vegan trail mix you need for all your summer road trips, hikes, and adventures. A delicious and nourishing go-to snack even if the adventure is just running errands.

Reasons why I love this recipe (and trail mix in general);
- It is a filling snack thanks to fats, carbs, and proteins from nuts and seeds
- It has chocolate, do I even need to say anything else?
- It is so easy to make at home and tastier than store-bought options (how many times have you bought a bag only to eat around all the items you don't like?)
- It is easy to take on the go
I think it's safe to say that trail mix is the GOAT (greatest of all time) of snacks, right?

Frequently Asked Questions
Each handful provides healthy fats, antioxidants, protein, and vitamins that are essential to consume daily.
Nuts, seeds, and dried fruits. The key is to have at least one salted nut paired with a few of your favorite raw nuts. Add at least 1 dried fruit for tart sweetness and 1 seed for additional boosts in nutritional value. Chocolate is a great addition, so add chunks of your favorite chocolate bar or toss in your favorite chocolate chips.
The name was coined from the snack frequently being taken on trails and adventures, so yes! As stated above it is also packed with health fats, carbs, and proteins making it a great option to continue to fuel you through whatever challenge you are taking on (the mountain of laundry also counts).

Substitutions
Chocolate chunks: substitute with pieces of your favorite vegan chocolate bar, chocolate chips, or white chocolate. For a chocolate free trail mix, replace with chopped dates or simply omit.
Salted and roasted cashews: substitute with another salted nut (such as peanuts).
Pecans: substitute with walnuts
Almond slices: substitute with whole almonds, slivered almonds, or a different nut entirely.
Other optional items to add include; popcorn, Unreal dark chocolate peanut gems, gluten-free pretzels, banana chips, and raisins.
Storage
Store the trail mix in a cool dry space away from sunlight in an airtight glass jar or container. It is best consumed within a few weeks but can last for up to a month.
Top tip for making homemade trail mix
Always include one salted nut! Pick whatever nut you don't love the taste of plain. For me it's always cashews and I use raw nuts for the rest. Experiment and have fun exploring your taste buds!
