What dairy free milk is best for smoothies?
I love flax milk for the added nutrients, but coconut, oat, hemp, soy and almond are all great choices too (with their own nutrient benefits).
- Coconut milk adds magnesium, potassium, calcium, and antioxidants
- Oat milk adds calcium and vitamin B
- Hemp milk adds calcium and magnesium
- Soy milk adds protein, calcium and omega-3s
- Almond milk adds vitamin E and calcium
Various brands are also fortified with other vitamins and minerals, adding additional nutrients to each. Be sure to check out the nutrition label!
What fruit can you mix with peaches?
Peaches are a sweet yet subtle flavor that mixes well with lots of fruits, especially in smoothies. Combine them with berries, apples, pomegranate, nectarines, plums, or cherries.
Substitutions
Peaches can be omitted if desired (although they provide balance to the sweet cherries).
Cherries can be substituted with other stone fruits such as nectarines or berry of choice.
Coconut yogurt ties this smoothie together and just feels right for summer, but feel free to use your favorite vegan yogurt instead.
Flax milk is my go-to for the added protein, vitamins and minerals, but feel free to swap for your favorite plant-based milk.
Variations for a cherry peach smoothie
- For a smoothie bowl, decrease the amount of liquid. Top with coconut flakes granola, fresh berries, and sliced banana. Drizzle with nut butter and sprinkle with hemp seeds
- For a sweeter treat, top with whipped cream and chocolate chips or cacao nibs.
- Vanilla extract or a dash of cinnamon can be added for additional flavor
- For an extra boost of vitamins and minerals, add hemp seeds or chia seeds.
Smoothie storage
For freshness, smoothies should be consumed immediately however they can be stored in the fridge for a few hours if needed. Alternatively, blend and then store in the freezer for a sweet frozen treat! Sorbet, anyone?
