Vegan eggnog martini ingredients
- Vegan eggnog (options below)
- Vodka: use your favorite! Tito's and Grey Goose are my recommendations.
- Date syrup: used instead of amaretto to keep the cocktail as simple as possible.
- Cinnamon and/or nutmeg: optional, but I love using cinnamon for adding an additional hint of warmness to the cocktail.
- Star anise for garnish (optional)
Vegan eggnog brands
Traditional eggnog is not vegan, as it contains dairy products (milk & cream) and eggs. However vegan options are available and thankfully more options seem to pop up each year! They are made with dairy-free alternatives like oat, soy, coconut, and almond milk. Here are some options that are most commonly found at Trader Joes, Whole Foods and Target;
- Trader Joe's O'Nog Non-Dairy Oat Beverage
- Silk Original Soy Nog
- Califia Farms Almond Milk Holiday Nog
- Almond Breeze Almond Milk Nog
- Good Karma Plant-Based Holiday Nog (made with flax milk)
- So Delicious Coconut Milk Holiday Nog
How to make an eggnog martini
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
- Strain into a coupe or martini glass and top with a dash of cinnamon (or nutmeg). Garnish with star anise if desired.
Variations
Add a festive rim; combine 1 tablespoon of sugar with ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon on a small plate or shallow bowl. Wet the rim and turn the glass upside down, pressing it into the cinnamon sugar mix until coated. Prepare the cocktail and strain into the prepared glass, carefully.
For an eggnog espresso martini; add a shot of espresso or 1.5 oz of cold brew/coffee of choice.
Swap vodka for rum and enjoy a simple vegan spiked eggnog.
For a non-alcoholic option: skip the vodka and enjoy the drink as is or add a shot of espresso or non-alcoholic spirit.
Looking for another fun way to serve these vegan eggnog martinis? Swap the martini glass for a stemless wine glass or rocks glass, add a cinnamon stick and vegan whipped cream (I used So Delicious CocoWhip). Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon and enjoy! (pictured below)
Storage
The martinis should be enjoyed right away, I do not recommend storing them or making them ahead of time.
