Frequently asked questions about cinnamon dolce lattes
Sweet cinnamon! The word "dolce" in Italian literally means sweet. Furthermore, the word dolce is used to describe music as sweet and soft.
A subtly sweet latte with notes of cinnamon. Starbucks features a cinnamon dolce latte, which includes; espresso, milk, cinnamon dolce syrup, whipped cream & cinnamon dolce sprinkles. The whipped cream and cinnamon dolce sprinkles are not vegan. To order a vegan cinnamon dolce latte: swap dairy milk for plant-milk and ask for no whip & no topping or substitue with a dash of cinnamon instead.
Exactly what it sounds like; sweet cinnamon! In this recipe we are using a vanilla plant-based milk to further enhance the cinnamon flavors and tie all the ingredients together.
Creamy vanilla, cinnamon & notes of sweetness (most often from brown sugar). In this recipe we are using date syrup for sweetness, as it adds a subtle caramel-like flavor and naturally sweetens the latte. However it can be swapped for maple or other sweetener of choice.
Yep! Espresso does not have to be used to make a homemade latte. Use cold-brew (for iced), strongly brewed coffee, or coffee concentrate instead.

Substitutions & Variations
Vanilla flax milk: substitute with any creamy and thick plant-based milk or barista blend. If you only have unflavored on hand, no worries! Alternatively add ¼-1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the coffee or use a vanilla flavored coffee.
Coffee: strongly brewed coffee, cold brew, bottled coffee, or espresso are all suitable options. However, depending on which you will need to adjust amounts to suit your taste buds.
Date syrup: I prefer date syrup instead of maple syrup in coffee. It adds subtle caramel-like flavors and is not overpowering. This is just a personal preference, so feel free to swap with maple syrup or other sweetener if desired!
Make an iced latte: use chilled coffee, espresso, or cold brew. For a rich coffee flavor, use coffee ice cubes (pouring coffee into ice cube trays and freezing). For additional creamy flavors, use plant milk ice cubes.
Add vegan whipped cream to the top of a hot or iced latte for additional sweetness and creaminess.
