This strawberry smoothie without banana is a blended version of one of my favorite desserts; strawberries and yogurt (topped with homemade granola for an extra satisfying crunch). It's so simple but never gets old. This smoothie recreates that same combination, with a boost of nutrients from protein powder, hemp seeds, and flaxseed meal. Prepped and ready to go in 2 minutes.

Vegan strawberry smoothie ingredients
- Frozen strawberries: frozen gives a thicker, colder (think milkshake) smoothie without needing to add ice. Fresh strawberries will result in a slightly thinner, possibly watery smoothie.
- Plant-based milk: Unsweetened almond milk, soy milk, or coconut milk are great for creating a creamy texure.
- Yogurt: Use a vanilla or plain dairy-free yogurt for the best flavor - Culina bourbon vanilla is *chefs kiss* in this. Cocojune also works well.
- Protein powder: add a scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder. If using plain protein, add a splash (1 teaspoon) of vanilla extract or ½ teaspoon of ground vanilla beans.
- Maple syrup: adds just a touch of sweetness and blends well with vanilla and strawberry. Substitute with 1-2 medjool dates or date syrup.
- Hemp seeds: adds additional protein, calcium, and healthy fats.
- Flaxseed meal: adds fiber, omega-3s, and helps to thicken the smoothie.
How to make a strawberry smoothie without banana
Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve immediately. If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash more milk and blend again.
Variations
- Strawberry milkshake: swap the yogurt for a scoop of vegan vanilla ice cream and top with vegan whipped cream and sprinkles.
- Green smoothie: add a handful of spinach or kale. It will change the color of the smoothie, but not the flavor.
- Smoothie bowl: decrease the milk to ½ cup - ⅔ cup and blend unil thick. Pour into a bowl and top with granola, fresh berries, and a drizzle of nut butter or granola butter.
- Add banana: half a ripe banana adds natural sweetness and extra creaminess if desired.
- Tropical twist: add ⅓ cup pineapple or mango and swap ¼ cup of milk for orange juice or coconut water. Also try this mango pear smoothie.
- Beetroot powder: add 1 teaspoon an extra nutritional boost and a deeper red color.
- High-protein: use a higher protein plant milk (soy or flax) and add a tablespoon of nut butter.

Storage
This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately after blending. If you need to make it ahead, store in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours and shake well before drinking.
